The owners desired their spaces to be more joyful and have a local allure but not so much as to prove unprofessional and they also wanted to bring a breath of fresh air to the usual office design.
The original design had an overall incoherence and plenty of dark spaces and a lot of segmentation that made the space inefficient. From this beginning the designers wanted to find a similar theme for all the rooms and also permit more light to enter. They used a bulkhead covered with Astroturf that spreads through all rooms and ends in a waiting bench connecting the reception and main boardroom with the bathroom and thus providing some unity.
The colonial roots were hinted through the use of European components like damask wallpaper blended with traditional African textures like the lath fence railing on the stairs. The reception offers a puzzle-like model of the country with its nine provinces. Other rooms include the library, which can also be used as a meeting room or a lounge area, and a boardroom upstairs which is designed as a collage of different elements. Plenty of ideas and also a lot of joyful elements transform the office into a place where work is sure to be mixed with pleasure.
