Here are given some common summer diseases with causes to make awareness and few precautions to enjoy the good times and stay safe from these illnesses-

Cough: Cough is not only caused in winter but also some persons are suffering from this disease even in summer. Cough is brought on by different viruses. The transmission may be happens when individuals makes direct contact with infected surfaces such as doorknobs, computer keyboards, telephones, etc, and then touches his nose and mouth. Exposure to dust and dirt, allergies and cold are the causes of cough. Cough may be symptoms of more severe diseases such as bronchitis pneumonia, fever, headache and pains. So you should try to avoid drinking too cold water and washing your hands with soap and water to reduce the spread of virus which usually becomes the prior reason of cough in summer. On the other hand, always cover the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.

Flu: Flu is another common disease of summer and winter caused by groups of virus. It is contracted by coming in contact with a patient of flu who is coughing or sneezing. It can also be contracted by also touching infectious patients and then touching one’s mouth and nose without washing the hands. Fever, cough, headache, sore throat, extreme tiredness, muscle aches, runny or stuffy nose are the systems of flu. To protect yourself avoid close contact people with suffering from flu, wash your hand frequently, drink plenty of fluids,  avoid excessive intake of oily foods and cold soft drinks, cover your cough sneeze, stay home and limit contact with others as much as possible

Chicken Pox: The special type of virus named Varicella zoster is responsible for Chicken pox in the human beings. Its prevalence is seen right at the onset of summers, chicken pox manifests as itchy red rash like spots or boils all over the body, usually in children. The disease spreads by infected person sneezes or coughs; a caregiver touches the blisters or the fluid oozing out of it. The symptoms are fever, headache and sore throat. The affected person should to keep complete isolation and given a good amount of rest. It takes about 10 days for the body to recover from the illness. To protect you, a vaccine is available against this virus. Some simple precautions like washing your hands thoroughly after visiting a common or crowded place is the simple precautions. Even so, this virus grows in wet areas so when there are summers make sure that tanks and other gardens are sprayed properly to protect from such virus.

Measles: Paramyxo virus is the cause of measles which is also known as rubella or morbilli. It mainly spread from the coughing and sneezing of infected person and though closes contact with them.  High fever, cough, runny nose, red and watery eyes are initial symptom of this disease. The Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine is the highly efficient to prevent the disease from the beginning. Measles affected person should to give plenty of fluids and nutritious diet.

Typhoid: Typhoid is a kind of severe fever commonly known as typhoid fever which place due to a specific bacterium Salmonella typhi. It is water borne disease passes on by the oro-feacal route. Typhoid fever may be contracted by consuming food or occur by drinking contaminated water. The symptoms are pain in abdomen, high fever, headache, loss of appetite, weight loss, constipation or diarrhea and sometimes a rash. To protect yourself, drink water from safe source, drink boiled or chlorinated water. Wash your hands well before and after eating food, ensure proper disposal of waste. Two types of vaccines are available to protect you against typhoid. One vaccine is uses to kill the bacteria and is injected into a person. Another is attenuated or weakened bacterium that is administered in the form of medicine or a pill.

Mumps: Mumps is extremely contagious viral diseases which occur in summer times. This virus is transmitted when an infected person sneezes or coughs. The symptoms are few days of fever; headache, muscle aches, tiredness, and loss of appetite, and is followed by swelling of salivary glands. We need to avoid direct contact with the victims because the virus is transmitted from unhealthy to healthy individuals.

Jaundice: It is also known as Hepatitis A caused mainly by contaminated water supplies and food cooked in unclean places. Yellow discoloration of the skin, mucous membranes and the whites of the eyes, light-colored stools, dark-colored urine and itching of the skin are the initial symptoms of Jaundice. To avoid jaundice should to use boiled water and eat lighter food. Try to drink filtered or double boiled water.
