A creative and unique hospital design in Australia

Today we will look at the design of a hospital in Australia. This hospital named the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital located in the Southbank Precinct of Brisbane, Australia. This is a specialist pediatric teaching facility with an exciting façade that ensures tertiary and quaternary health services in a structure spreading over 12 floors that was designed through the collaboration between the Lyons architectural practice and Conrad Gargett.
The bright colors, with green and purple tones, integrate well into the nearby park lands and are joyful enough for a space designed with children in mind. The roofs are landscaped and the designers began their work by studying hospitals for a project that would be as efficient as possible.
They explain that “the Queensland project was an opportunity to contest these prevailing paradigms; to radically rethink both the care model and the way in which the building might contribute to the city as a civic marker and as the touchstone for the Brisbane community.”
There are two vertical atria with a double height in the center that branch in a manner similar to that of a tree to create a series of external balconies that offer an overview of the city.
